Yoshitaka Amano meets David Bowie

Wow, can’t believe I never heard of this. According to this interview (click), the artwork (of which there is a good deal more) also features Iman and most of the clothing is designed by Dior. Neil Gaiman later wrote a short story based on the art.

Amano + Bowie + Iman + Dior + Gaiman. Collaboration is a beautiful thing.

GIVEAWAY

Second Hand Intuos PTZ-930/G0 Size: A4 (drawing area), A3 (tablet size)
Includes: Mouse, Grip Pen.

It’s a tablet I have used for 4 years, and it still usable. There are still 5 good eye pens, including the one that is installed to the grip pen.

I am currently moving, and I want to give my tablet to aspiring artist, that is, if s/he doesn’t mind second hand tablet. I feel bad of giving someone else’s my second hand tablet, but it is still in a very good condition and it’s a shame to just throw it away. I knew the frustration of not having a tablet. I was once that high school student who didn’t have any income and did not dare to ask my parents to buy me one. I know having tablet doesn’t mean you will draw better, but that time, I was dying to experiment with one.

Reminiscing my past self, it would be a pleasure for me to give it to someone who needs it.

The shipping will be on me, and yes, I’ll ship internationally.

You don’t need to be my follower. You don’t need to reblog this either (unless if you want to share it to a friend you know in need of one). Just send me a message/an ask with your user name (not anonymous) before April 4th (the deadline), and tell me about your passion in drawing, and why you need the tablet. (I would like to see your art too, if you don’t mind. Even if it’s only a sketch on paper.  Don’t worry I won’t judge the winner on the “best” art.) I’ll personally message you on April 5th if you get it.

PS: If you’re financially able to buy a tablet yourself, please refrain on participating. Please give the chance to the ones who need it the most. (And please, no trolling).

Thank you for reading.

“some historians think that michelangelo was drawing god in a human brain. very few people knew what one looked like at the time; but michelangelo had dissected cadavers and would have known. it even has the hint of a brain stem. if true this would have been a great “fuck you” to the pope whom he was not friendly with but also would have meant god was in a human brain, or created by man.”

Interesting.

also michelangelo painted a baby angel flipping off the pope

image

the blond one, you see his right hand? that’s called the fig and it’s an old world european gesture for ‘fuck you” because apparently Pope Juluis II was a total raging asshole and everyone hated him

but nobody ever noticed this little fucker because the ceiling was so high

and then thirty years later they called michelangelo back to paint the wall behind the altar and he wasted no time in painting the gates of hell behind the pope’s chair

what a badass

It amuses me to this day how much Michelangelo hated his job

British-Nigerian sketch artist Kevin Okafor photographs each step of his drawings, you get a glimpse at his technique, and it is impressive how he uses charcoal for the hair—he smudges it, and then with a pen eraser thinly threads and creates highlights. He also uses other materials such as Faber-Castell graphite and black colored pencils

The above paintings, all by the lovely Roberto Ferri, are called Salmacis and Hermaphroditus I-III.

The paintings depict how Hermaphroditus, son of Hermes and Aphrodite, took a detour to bathe in a lake. Suddenly the nymph Salmacis, overcome with a love for Hermaphroditus, decides to seduce the boy into having sex with her. Hermaphroditus nonetheless refuses her, to which Salmacis plots. When it seemed to Hermaphroditus that the coast was clear, he made his move to bathe upon the lake once more, this time without Salmacis nagging him. But out from behind a tree Salmacis sprang and wrapped herself around the boy and pleaded to the gods that they should never part. Her wish was confirmed and the gods mixed the nymph and the boy into what we now call a hermaphrodite.
